Foundation stallions behind the Cowan Program

1992 Buckskin Stallion

Boon Dox John x Stella Frost

(15.0hh/1250lbs)

Tremendous performance and cowhorse stallion, a headline, pre potent sire of our program. He is own son of Boon Dox John crossed on an own daughter of Doc's Jack Frost. PC Boston Bob geldings are among the very best ranch and rodeo competition horses we have ever rode. They have excelled at everything we have ever asked of them.

1995 Bay Stallion

Sun Frost x Poc Wood

(15.0hh/1250lbs)

A linebred Driftwood stallion with a dominant stature along with noteworthy pedigree. He is making his own mark as one of Sun Frost's premier stallions. He is a superb and powerful athlete, conformationally correct, and radiates character. He combines all the speed, ability, substance and cow sense of his Doc's Jack Frost and Driftwood heritage.

1993 Palomino Stallion -

Docs Oak Sugar x Cross Fire Kate

(15.1hh/1235lbs)

A first class quarter horse stallion, a program headliner throughout the past decade. Smoak is the product of the best of the Cowan and Stanley Johnson breeding, backed by a mare line that has been unparalleled. Cross Fire Kate is by Sak Em San and Prissy Cline. This same mare, Prissy Cline, was also the dam to Sun Frost, as well as Quick Draw Cline, Runnin Gun, and Marco Doc (all Cowan ranch and rodeo geldings.)

2001 Bay Stallion

PC Boston Bob x PC Caly Frost

P(15.2hh/1200lbs)

A relatively young stallion in the program, a grandson of both Boon Dox John and Sun Frost, he goes back to Doc's Jack Frost twice and Driftwood four times. His dam PC Caly Frost infuses the bloodlines of John Red through her maternal line. The model of a rodeo built, athletic, performance horse stallion with incredible speed. In 2007 he was the Belle Fourche (SD) Roping Futurity third place horse.  We look forward to watching his colts grow up.

1982-1996 brown stallion

Boon Dox John was all Quarter Horse. Strong, stout, and intelligent with substance and heart. He was an own son of Boon Bar crossed on a foundation mare, Dude's Queen.

This is the only photo ever taken of Boon Dox John.

1979-2007 palomino stallion

Sun Frost's progeny have accumulated over $2.4 million. He is the sire of a World Champion Barrel Horse, multiple PRCA NFR money earners, and DCCF Champions. Sun Frost genetics have excelled at virtually every level, from youth to futurity to professional. He was recently included in the latest Western Horseman Legends Volume 8, a tribute to impact he has made on the quarter horse industry.

1984 bay stallion

Docs Oak Sugar was the classic 'all around' stallion that was a descendent to Doc Bar, Sugar Bars, Leo and King. He was a proven sire of cutting champions, superior ranch and rodeo horses, and hallmark broodmares.
